April 17, 1946 - Grandma enters the world

Well it's been awhile since I have written but there is no tiime limit so here I am again.  Your dad just instant messaged me from London, Eng.  where he is working for two weeks.  Sure wish I was with him.  Now, this blog is to share with you a little about me and who I am.  So here it goes.

April 17, 1946 - 6:17am I entered this world in Van Nuys, California 6lbs. 12ozs. no hair
In those days, babies were born and then put in a bassenet next to the mom and the mom stayed in the hospital for 1 week.  It was Easter Sunday, I am told.  My dad, your great grandfather, called me his Easter Bunny.

While mom was in the hospital, her doctor, who delivered me, came to visit a couple of days after I entered this world.  Mom says she was asleep and woke when she heard some noise.  She saw her doctor leaning over my bassenet, cover pulled back, instruments laid out and the doctor was about to prepare me for a cirucumcision.  Mom says she yelled, "My God, I had a girl."  She said the doctor startled, looked up and then said, "oh yes."   He then left the room.

Mom said she learned later that the doctor had a reputation for being loaded on drugs most of the time.  So that explains that behavior.

I was checked out and taken to my new home which was at 11727 Hortense Street, North Hollywood, where my folks lived in a small house trailer out back and my mother's parents lived in the house.

That is it for today......I will continue in the next blog.
